New here, but long time alienated participant in the family court system.  The original decree (not written in Virginia) says child support until age 18.  Current order specifies the amount but not the terminal age.  It looks as if my ex will be taking me back to court for more support.  What's the likelihood that I will have to pay for child support after my child turns 18 if he goes to college?

http://ocse.acf.hhs.gov/ext/irg/sps/selectastate.cfm    Here is a site you can go to to find the laws in the state where the decree was written in. Hope this will help you.

so tired,
welcome to the site. i do believe that most states are universal on this aspect. meaning, that most states make the ncp pay child support until the age of 19 or if the child is in college, until they complete college. however, virginia is a special state and it is a commenwealth, they make their own rules and regulations. i am not sure how this works, but you can look up the laws by doing a google search and find out what you are looking for. you can also call the court house or attend a pro se clinic to find out these regulations. i hope this helps. join me at myspace.com/mddadsdeserverights
