VAWA is Not Helping Women, Report Shows

RADAR ALERT:
VAWA is Not Helping Women, Report Shows
It’s no secret that the Violence Against Women Act often ignores civil liberties and discriminates against male victims. But everyone assumed that at least VAWA was beneficial to women.
RADAR’s latest Special Report, “Has VAWA Delivered on its Promises to Women?,” reveals this belief may be false.
Packed with DoJ statistics, scientific studies, and actual examples, the report dissects, analyzes, and explodes the myth that VAWA is good for women. The Special Report documents that:
- VAWA programs have not affected overall trends of intimate partner abuse.
- Aggressive prosecution policies are placing women at greater risk of subsequent violence.
- Real victims of violence can’t get the help they need because the system has become flooded with the laughable “David Letterman-type” cases.
- “No-drop” prosecution policies routinely ignore women’s wishes for counseling and repair of the relationship.
- Ineffective DV policies may lull women into a false sense of security.
- Draconian law enforcement and prosecution programs ensnare women.
- Female perpetrators of domestic violence don’t get the services they need.
- Abuse shelters aren’t meeting the needs of victims.
- Overly-broad definitions of child abuse allow children to be removed from their homes.
- VAWA policies and programs serve to escalate partner conflict and harm children.
This report is a must-read, no-holds-barred critique of our nation’s domestic violence system. The report can be seen at: http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/VAWA-Has-It-Delivered-on-Its-Promises-to-Women.pdf.
The report follows the RADAR report, “A Culture of False Allegations: How VAWA Harms Families and Children,” which was released last week. That report documents how VAWA undermines families and places children at greater risk of abuse: http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/VAWA-A-Culture-of-False-Allegations.pdf.
So this week, we call on you to read the report, “Has VAWA Delivered on its Promises to Women?” Then forward this Alert to all your friends, media contacts, and elected officials, so they know “It’s Time to Fix VAWA.”
Date of RADAR Release: February 5, 2007

Interestingly enough-
Seems like women that start at the bottom of the totem pole for instance, they try to do good and for a cause which is fine and dandy, but when they climb on the backs of all the women/moms/children and ESPECIALLY FATHERS/MEN in this case (VAWA) and when they get to the leadership roles they have no clue what to do anymore, they stutter. Well, thanks to Dubya Bush, they’ve got a few more years of spending and funding coming.
It’s been a while since I’ve been here, but I’ve just been very busy making a lot of “waves” for the family law criminals (they know who they are) here in New Mexico. Just wanted to let all of you know that I have started a website to compliment the cable access TV show I do over here. It addresses many father’s rights issues like VAWA and has info on how to see the show on webstream. The web site address is http://www.wheredmydaddygo.com check out the site and get the word out to others.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel an intense tension coming from the family law system in my state and maybe the whole country. A tension so palpable that it seems like something is going to snap soon and bring this entire corrupt family law system crashing to the ground. Again, I don’t know if it’s just me, or there’s something realy going on under the surface, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Yes! This can, must and shall be done.
And the sooner the better for benefit of all truly honorable to the respect and integrity of any civilized democratic society, not to mention for the dignity of all “children” of the Almighty.
In an editorial “Government Inside Out,†New York Times, Feb 7, 2007, the author recites –
“The United States is quickly becoming a government of
the contractors, by the contractors and for the contractors.”
Yes the ultimate underlying problem, an axis within and capable of discernment as perhaps more vile than any abroad. And note, it has nothing to do with our children or the needs for compassion and comfort of, heaven forbit, “female victims.â€
May it be that some of false dicta’s (and ideologies totally repugnant to some fundamental tenants of our heritage) seem to shelter under notions of
- sugar and spice and everything nice, and/or
- best interests of our . . . . .
This certainly is not the first time (nor likely the last) that we may note derailments of certain obligations of our founding. None the less, it need not excuse implied acquiescence by any who may feel compelled to the honoring of obligations to our American heritage.
With hope and faith in growing integrity(s) FBO of family, children, community, clients, etc.
Respectfully yours, in service and candor,
Walter
The VAWA should be known by its real “effects†–
V – iolence
A – gainst
F – amilies
A – act.
God Given Unalienable Rights should be as meaningful today as in the time of our Founders. Such Doctrines are worthy of respect, and certainly may be deemed worthy of a little dusting or refreshing.
We should, can and must stop the sickening co-addiction of “some†(of alleged self-appointed entitlement) to the Federal Dole.
At first they ignored us,
But now they deplore us,
And with satisfaction I surmise,
If we’re to share this planet together,
To get it, and keep it together,
We must be equal in each other’s eyes.
Women claim to be victims,
That is their dictum,
A word will suffice to the wise,
Though once you were victims,
You’re now the vindictive,
And soon you will suffer demise.
It’ll be no one’s skew,
There’ll be no unjust due,
Justice will finally prevail,
Those who refuse rights to others,
Are those who discover,
That injustice will soon be their tale.
If we all learn our lesson,
And stop this oppression,
The future belongs to the free,
If we choose to ignore this,
The founders have warned us,
Our children will suffer as thee.
Kevin Merck
1,500,000 children are murdered every year in just the United States alone. There have been a total of 50,000,000 murdered in the U.S. since Roe vs. Wade and most of these murders were carried out using our tax dollars.
Anyone capable of murdering a helpless child that grows inside their body is capable of just about anything. If as a society, we choose not to protect the rights of innocent children, we establish a precedent that will ultimately affect us all.
